Mt. Palgongsan

We start our Daegu trip out with Erik practicing being a tourist! On Saturday we did the Daegu city bus tour. There were a bunch of differnt stops, but we got a late start so we only did two of them. The first site was Bullo-dong Tomb Park.

Maybe you can read this, but I will give you a brief description if you can't. There are about 214 tombs made during the era of the three kingdoms. The mounds vary in size and are spread out along the mountain.

Here you can see many of the round tombs in the background.

...and there is me making funny faces again.

That is Daegu in the background. You can't really see the mountains because of the haze.

Here I am again trying to make a pretty pose

...but Erik is making me laugh too hard

....and I have to try to get my camera back

Erik hiding behind a tomb

I was yelling at him because he was standing on someone's tomb!

Some of the mounds were so big! Must have been pretty important people
There is me at the foot of one of the tombs

After we saw enough tombs, we headed back to the street to wait for the bus to pick us up again. Buddha's birthday is May 10th so they are hanging up the colored lanterns everywhere

I found a bike with my name on it!

The next place we went was Donghwasa Temple. There was some kind of festival going on so they were having a talent show. We didn't find a whole lot of talent, so we decided to find something to eat.

The cherry blossoms are out everywhere.

This was the strangest dog. It had a head and tail the size of a normal yellow lab, but its body and legs were much smaller. He was trying to catch a bird..

 Donghwamun Gate

This dude is under the gate guarding the entrance

They don't look so happy to see us

Here is the start of the temple

Here is a similar design once it has been painted

The sun was so bright!

As we were waiting for the bus to come so we could head home, these two    wonderful trucks passed us. We were really tired and cold, but seeing them made our hour wait worth while =)

Field Trip in Goryoung

Today we had a field trip to Goryoung with the 1st- 5th graders. The weather was perfect but all the kids said it was too hot. In this pictures everyone is lining up outside the school to go to the buses.

We went to the Daegaya Festival where they had all kinds of fun things to do. I was too busy keeping an eye on stray kids to really do much, but just being outside was good enough for me! They had all kinds of crafts and food, as well as reenactments of ancient culture.

I'm walking behind some 5th graders where we were all meeting to regroup after getting off the bus.

This is the entrance to the museum. Deagaya is a kingdom during the Gaya confederacy. It lasted from 42 AS to about 562 AD where is was taken over by the Shilla Dynasty.

Oh My favorite! Old Pottery! I really wanted to look around the museum and read everything (Everything in English anyway ;) ) but between there being 100s of kids saying hello to me every second and watching the kids from our school there was not time. But a quick lap around was pretty cool!

Here is one one of the 5th grade classes.

I just had to put this picture up cause I love this little guy. He is so funny.

Now it is lunch time and everyone is getting out their food and mats to have a picnic.

My darling 3rd grade girls. Their cuteness makes up for the naughty 3rd grade boys.

End of the trip. Time to go back to the bus. Didn't really take pictures of anything beside kids lol. Guess I was paying more attention to them then anything else.

It was a long day....
